June 2016 Awardee Paul Roth
LIB presented its very first Beauty Spot Award to Paul Roth whose residence is located in Mallard Point on Mills Ridge Road in Lewes. Paul has been working on his landscaping for more than seven years. His home was selected for the award for his overall ingenious design and his creativity in maximizing all areas of light – sun, filtered sun, and shade. Key features include the following: a living ivy espaliered wall, extensive landscaped beds, a gorgeous 30’ climbing hydrangea, outstanding deep blue hydrangeas, and transplanted family heritage shrubs and plants. In addition, he has a wide variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals including a number of pollinators, and food, shelter, and water for wildlife. His ideas were very insightful as he worked with the challenges of shade, sun, poor soil, rocks, mature trees, and water issues to maximize the potential of each area.
